School Info

Twenty years on and Hamerton Zoological Park is still playing a vital role in animal conservation. With our ever increasing collection of rare and endangered animals and birds, we feature nearly 100 different species. Some are unique to Hamerton Zoo, and many are here as part of internationally co-ordinated conservation programmes.

Set in approximately 20 acres of safe, clean open parkland the Zoo is an ideal venue for a visit based around a single day. The gates are open from 10.30am every day, and they close at 6.00pm in the summer and 4.00pm in the winter (times change with the clocks). However the park is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Coffee shop provides light refreshments such as ice-creams, sandwiches, pasties and other snack foods, and of course the chance to sit down and relax with a hot or cold beverage of your choice. While the Gift shop offers a wide range of items from a zoo badge at 50 pence, to a soft cuddly tiger worth £19.99, there's something for everyone.

The Play area offers the children chance to let off some steam on various rope swings and climbing frames and adults can play too. Not forgetting our younger visitors, there is also a toddler's play area with swings and wobbly crow's nests. Whatever the weather picnics are welcome, as our covered picnic area offers both protection from the sun and shelter from the rain. Located right next to the shops and the two children's play areas, there's no better way than to spend the afternoon relaxing with a drink watching the children safely playing. And for a bit of extra fun, you can feed the miniature sheep and goats. But only the sheep and goats please.
