The refitting of our 3 approved quarantine units is pretty much complete, and next week our team should be able to get back to work on the new meerkat enclosure, and new house and paddock by the Tayra. After these are done, we will resume work on the bear viewing platform and adjacent paddock. Due to the delays caused by the import changes we cannot give any idea of completion times unfortunately, though none are especially large jobs.
This week has seen the arrival of some new snakes, a new species for the Park which will be announced later, and a young female Asian Short-clawed Otter, a mate for the male who arrived in the winter.
Now that DEFRA have lifted the restrictions which stopped all bird and mammal moves for five months, we are expecting some more new arrivals soon - and this week we have been able to open the 'Outback Aviary' after being forced close it back in November.
All we need now is for the weather to allow us to open the play-area for MayDay - fingers crossed..!
