Inter-Zoo Animal Movement..

Three young Greater Grison left Hamerton Zoo Park yesterday headed for two zoos in Germany. We have just had a message to tell us that they have arrived safely, and are completely unfazed by their journey. Hamerton remains the only zoo in Britain where you can see this species and the only zoo in Europe where it is successfully reproducing! Our breeding pair will stay off-show, and the first young pair bred here can be seen in an enclosure near the Meerkats, where they are becoming increasingly confident. We are delighted to be able to work with our German colleagues in this way, on a long-term basis to hopefully establish this species in European zoos; and we hope to receive some animals new to our collection in return over the next year or so.
2018 (and 2019) will see more new arrivals at the Park than have ever been welcomed since we opened in 1990 - along with quite a number of departures too.
